Bamboo is one of the world's most versatile and environmentally-friendly materials and has been used as a renewable resource for thousands of years.

Bamboo is a variety of grass and some varieties can grow up to 4 feet a day! A Bamboo plant is fully mature in 3 to 4 years, ready to be harvested.

Making Bamboo fabric uses a chemical process to convert cellulosic fibres into fabric.  The primary chemical used is Sodium Hydroxide (known as Caustic Soda).  Caustic Soda is widely used in production of many goods – food production, soap, bio-diesel, paper and nearly all Cottons, including Organic Cotton.

During wet processing, Caustic Soda is approved for use on textiles under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

Our Bamboo fabric is made in a “closed loop” solvent spinning process, resulting in minimal environmental impact by minimising energy and water usage.  The solvent is recycled during the production process, which reduces manufacturing plant emissions of air pollution and waste water.

Emissions output for Bamboo are significantly lower in comparison to many other man-made fibres.

Bamboo can be easily screen printed with up to 6 colours (3 colours is optimal).  Screen printing is the most economical method of printing.

Our Bamboo Bags are available Natural fabric colour only.
